Supporting Local Communities

Making a Difference to Local Communities Across Australia

As a Brambles company, CHEP contributes positively to the communities in which we operate by supporting food security and food waste initiatives, education, environmental restoration programs, and by encouraging our people to participate in local community initiatives.

Goals

By 2020 Brambles aims to make a significant contribution to our Better Communities programs. This includes charitable contributions, employee volunteering value and in-kind donations of platforms and services.

Brambles allows 3 days volunteering leave to all permanent employees each year and our aspiration is to increase volunteering participation beyond 1 day.

Supporting Communities: In-kind contributions

We partner with local and global organisations by providing platforms such as pallets, Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) and containers as well as the expertise of our people.

Provision of platforms helps our charity partners achieve their aims with reduced financial overheads.

We also provide volunteer opportunities for our employees to help our charities with requirements ranging from logistics planning and network collaboration to packing food hampers for those in need.

In FY17, CHEP Australia donated approximately $1,571,443 through in-kind support.

Supporting Bicycle Network Victoria’s Annual Great Victorian Bike Ride

Our colleague, Gavin Dore, a CHEP regional trainer based in Victoria, spent 10 days on Bicycle Network Victoria’s annual Great Victorian Bike Ride. Gavin along with a small group of rider volunteers gave up 4 hours of their recovery time each day to help the catering team, serving dinner to the other 4,500 riders and 400 volunteers on the event. Like Gavin, our team members are passionate about volunteering and giving back to the communities we operate within.
