Inauguration of the COMBRONDE-CHEP service center

On June 1st, 2018, CHEP and its partner COMBRONDE inaugurated a new automated service center in Thiers (63). This 27th CHEP service center, which processes 1.5 million pallets per year, is intended to deliver CHEP pallets to France and, in particular, five departments of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Automation at the service of quality

This automated site, equipped with the latest technologies, replaces a manual processing center that was no longer in use. The new center is built on a 15 000 m2 terrain in the same industrial area as the previous one. It houses two custom-designed buildings for the sorting and repair of blue wooden pallets from CHEP. The first building measures 4 000 m2 and can store  80 000 pallets (or 100% of the volume) indoor. The second building covers an area of 2 000 m2. It is equipped with a 140 m long automated line for sorting and repairing pallets, including a nail driving module, a dry pallet detector and a unitary painting In total, this sorting chain can process up to 600 pallets (80x120 or 100x120 cm) per hour.
