From January 1st, 2021, the UK will become a “third country” to the EU. Therefore, it will become a legal requirement for all wood packaging material moving in both directions between the UK and the EU to be compliant with International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM 15). This is a global regulation intended to prevent the spread of plant diseases and pests through wooden packaging materials by requiring them to be heat-treated (HT) and marked.
Managing Brexit uncertainty and preparing to mitigate related risks has been a key priority for CHEP. We are focused on getting food and essential goods to consumers across the UK and EU without delays and have been making preparations to ensure our customers can obtain the necessary quantities of compliant platforms for cross border flows.
