Pioneering regenerative supply chains

Our commitment to regeneration includes our planet, business partners and communities: Together, we are leading a regenerative revolution.

CHEP’s business model is inherently sustainable. By using our pooled equipment and sustainability solutions our customers’ supply chains become more efficient in terms of cost and use of natural resources. We help customers become part of the circular economy through share and reuse. The more customers use our platforms, the greater the efficiencies.

CHEP plays a major role in advancing the Brambles Group’s Sustainability strategy and achieving its 2025 Sustainability Goals, which are tied to the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations.

All of our Sustainability activities are built around becoming Planet Positive, Business Positive and Communities Positive.

Our FY21 Sustainability Highlights

We are a sustainable business and, as part of the Brambles Group, had several great successes in FY21. This year, through the sharing and reuse of CHEP RPC platforms our New Zealand customers achieved these environmental benefits:

  • 16,600 tonnes of carbon emissions saved
  • 442,166 kilolitres of water saved
  • 5,860 tonnes of solid waste saved

Each time our customers choose to share and reuse CHEP solutions over single-use packaging, carbon emissions are reduced, waste is avoided, and raw materials are saved. Thank you to our customers for making positive changes in the supply chain.

Calculate how much you can save

Reuseable packaging solutions are inherently more efficient than single-use ones. When our customers share and reuse the same pallets to move their products, fewer pallets are required, less natural resources are consumed, less waste ends up in landfill sites and less CO2 enters the earth’s atmosphere.

Our Power Of Pooling calculator helps you quickly identify your potential cost and environmental savings.

Collaboration projects

Collaboration projects
One type of Collaboration project we offer is Transport Collaboration, where we ‘close the loop’ to reduce empty miles.

The biggest Sustainability benefits can only be achieved by end-to-end collaboration across the entire supply chain. We work with you, your suppliers, your logistics partners, and others to find opportunities where cooperation can make your business more efficient. Scroll down to read case studies on some of the successful collaboration projects we have carried out with our customers.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
This index judges companies on over 600 environmental, social and corporate governance factors.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices. Under its parent company Brambles, CHEP is ranked 2nd in its industry category.

The EcoVadis Gold Award CHEP received in 2017.

CHEP has received multiple Gold Awards from EcoVadis, which provides Supplier Sustainability Ratings for global supply chains. EcoVadis’ methodology is built on international Corporate Social Responsibility standards and these Gold Awards show CHEP is ranked in the top 5% of companies assessed.

United Nations

United Nations
The UN Refugee Agency partnered with CHEP because we are a global supply chain leader.

Our Sustainability programme is endorsed by the United Nations (UN) and our 2020 Sustainability Goals are fully aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. CHEP has worked very closely with the United Nations Refugee Agency to improve its supply chains and ensure emergency aid gets to where it’s needed as quickly as possible.

We are also a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. This is a voluntary corporate citizenship initiative that encourages businesses to align their strategy and operations with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Coca Cola Enterprises

Coca Cola Enterprises
Coca Cola Enterprises is Coca Cola’s exclusive bottler for eight European countries.

In 2015 CHEP was named Coca-Cola Enterprises’ (CCE) Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Supplier of the Year. We won this award for our continuous efforts to develop innovative and sustainable logistics solutions.

The customer benefitted strongly from the successful collaboration projects it carried out with us. CHEP and CCE jointly developed an innovative new type of wheeled platform to meet CCE’s specific needs and make its supply chain more efficient. CCE also joined our collaborative transportation programme, which removed three million kilometres of truck haulage from European roads and cut CCE’s carbon emissions by almost three metric tonnes.

Better Communities

At CHEP we are dedicated to giving back to the communities we operate in. This means that we give permanent employees three days of Volunteer Leave and also make monetary and in-kind donations to various charities and not-for-profit organisations.

A lot of our community work is for food banks. Below you can see some examples of how we support these incredibly important institutions.
