Adding value as we help deliver goods across the supply chain

While our Open Innovation team listens to the challenges our customers presently face across the food chain, we also analyse the future of food and which trends will directly impact the supply chain.

Horizon Scouting

To help us build this future vision, our Horizon Scouting efforts engage with a broad array of external parties, including:

  • Technology start-ups

  • Industry leaders and forums

  • Retail and Logistics agencies

  • Global students via ideation challenges

Each group helps enable us to bridge the gap between the world today and the web of future scenarios across three areas:

Future Warehouse

Which technologies are driving the future of how goods will be stored and moved across the warehouses and distribution centres of tomorrow?

We continue to engage with external partners across the warehouse eco-system, analysing how we can support and innovate together.

This includes the consideration of how this environment will evolve in its role to deliver goods to consumers at the right cost and speed.

CHEP is ready for the future warehouse

Future of Food

Analysing changing consumer behaviour - such as the rise of health conscious diets, demand for alternative proteins and the understanding of data behind what they are eating and who produced it -  allows us to translate these behaviours into potential impacts on the supply chain and its partners.

This growing demand requires new innovation and ways of thinking in how we are delivering these changes.

Future of Retail

How will the end consumer shop for a buy their goods in the future? What impact will these changes have across the Supply Chain?

Today, retail is no longer a conversation of two halves: e-commerce and the physical store. We are now seeing online and physical shopping merge in a way we haven’t previously seen. Consumers now expect to order any item at any location at any time.

As a result of this shift, retailers and manufacturers are being asked to react and fulfill their products at any time. This future fluid retail world will see blurred lines between manufacturer and home-delivery. Together, we must innovate to help bring these worlds together.
