The Company
The Farmona Natural Cosmetics Laboratory has been active in the market since 1997. The company’s philosophy combines the more recent developments in cosmetology with the power of natural plant ingredients. The Laboratory offers more than 450 face, body and haircare products. In recent years, the company has expanded its offering to include professional cosmetics aimed at beauty salons.

The Challenge
Following the latest trends in the beauty supplies market, Farmona decided to develop its method of displaying its products by using in-store promotional stands. Various display solutions were tested that turned out in the end to be either too costly or unstable. Goods were frequently being damaged in transit. A search was begun for a universal solution that could be used across different distributors and retail chains but which above all, would keep the product safe.

The Solution
CHEP Poland proposed one of its highly effective “Last Mile” display solutions to the Farmona Laboratory. The CHEP quarter-pallet display is a stable platform that transports well and offers an attractive display solution with a ready-made display stand.

Effective use of the Last Mile
One of the ways to increase sales is the use of display stands that enhance product visibility. There are many solutions on the market for promoting products, The Farmona Natural Cosmetics Laboratory took a decision to use display platforms throughout its supply chain. A search was begun for the best display solution. The carriers tested did not meet the company’s requirements in respect of safe transporting or durability and attractiveness of the displays. In addition, the requirements to dispose of the solutions being used added to the cost of the whole venture.

Using the CHEP pallet leasing system has had a positive impact on the environment and helps save resources along the company’s entire supply chain.

Product safety
Szymon Kamiński, Director of Storage and Transport, headed up the tests that were conducted by Farmona. “We tested several display platforms. We dispatched test stands over various distances. Damage was encountered even during the preliminary testing stage. Stands were sliding off pallets and moving about inside the vehicle. Distribution centre then reported damage resulting from the use of an unsuitable carrier. We knew that this wasn’t the right solution for us. So we decided to start working with CHEP and renting quarter-pallets from them.

The CHEP display systems, such as the plastic quarter-pallet, or dolly, a quarter-pallet fitted with wheels, is a response to the demands of the modern retail market. These platforms can be used to both transport goods and to promote them in store. Thanks to a series of improvements, these systems reduce CO2 emissions along the supply chain by as much as 10% and reduce packaging costs, whilst enhancing the visibility of products and make it easier to run promotions.

CHEP's quarter-size display pallet was awarded an Innovation Laurel in a competition for the best innovative product of 2015, as well as winning the Best Logistics Transport and Production Product of 2016.
