With its business model based on share and reuse, CHEP strives to create sustainable value every day, and through its leadership stance, powerful team spirit, drive to learn and teach, innovative perspective, social working environment and approach to sustainability offers so much more than just a job.

In April, in cooperation with the BAU CO-OP, we met with the students of Bahçeşehir University and discussed our business model and working environment with them. 32 students took part in this chat, where CHEP Turkey & North Africa Managing Director Şafak Aktekin explained to them what provides happiness in business life, CHEP's “More Than Just a Job” approach and the importance of this understanding. After the talk, the students worked on a case study, and the 4 students who produced the best answers to the questions in the study were invited to participate in “An Ordinary Day at CHEP” event. We have been the conference bag sponsor at the Joint Development Congress for the past three years

For the past three years CHEP has been the conference bag sponsor at the Joint Development Congress, which has been organized by the Food Retailers Association (GPD) since 2014. In 2016, where the theme was “Changing Customer Expectations”, we gave the congress attendees an unusual experience with our virtual reality application. Participants who put on the CHEP VR headset found themselves inside a retail store designed with CHEP pallets. They could wander around the store while seeing how the use of CHEP pallets allowed effective positioning of products and met client expectations and how the customer experience was improved.

In 2017, the theme of the Joint Development Congress was “Shared Values Created by Retailers”, which examined the benefits, contributions and added value of retail from every perspective. Best practices were shared at this congress, and the efficiency and sales advantages provided to the sector by CHEP’s blue half-pallets was shown with real applications at our store-concept stand.

At the International Logitrans Transport Logistics Fair we discussed our digital solutions

Logitrans is the number one business platform in the Eurasia region for logistics and supply chain solutions, and in November 2017 we took part in its 11th annual International Logitrans Transport Logistics Fair. Opportunities and Threats of the New Silk Road Project, Solar Energy and Electricity Storage, Industry 4.0: The Need For Standardization in the Global Supply Chain and New Technologies were topics discussed at the fair, and it provided us with an opportunity to discuss innovative ideas and suggestions with the key companies and managers in the sector.

In the forum Industry 4.0: The Need For Standardization in the Global Supply Chain and New Technologies at the International Logitrans Transport Logistics Fair, CHEP Turkey and North Africa Managing Director Şafak Aktekin discussed technological developments and the increasing importance of digitalization. He also explained the key role played by digital developments, which have had a huge effect on the operational side of the supply chain, in ensuring that sustainability is achieved, and spoke of CHEP’s investment in digital solutions through BXB Digital, which transcends traditional boundaries to provide product visibility throughout the supply chain.

Additionally, the forum highlighted the interaction between human and machine, which will be achieved through future digitization, sensors and robots, one of the key points of the Industry 4.0 projects. It has been mentioned that the emergence of a successful Industry 4.0 project will play an important role in simplifying the complexity of the associated IT systems with the need for standardized infrastructure and data units in the supply chain both internally and internationally.

We sponsored Efficient Store and Category Management Training

Together with P&G and Numil, CHEP sponsored the Efficient Store and Category Management Training Sessions organized by the Turkish Retailers Federation in 2017 for local chains. We visited 12 different cities in Turkey in order to develop the business and team management skills of store managers in the retail sector and increase category management efficiency.

As part of these 2-day training sessions, PERDER members came together with the regional management of the sponsor companies both to establish new business relationships and to learn about the elements that affect the consumer’s purchasing decisions, the changing shopping preferences of men and women and new applications in store and category management.

We met members of the press in Izmir, Konya and Trabzon

At WorldFood Istanbul, we discussed the importance of food banks

CHEP participated in the WorldFood Istanbul Food Fair in 2016, which provided a meeting point between the Turkish and global food sectors. At the fair, we supported the Basic Needs Association (TİDER) which works to allow all people fair and equal access to basic human needs.

CHEP Turkey and North Africa Managing Director Şafak Aktekin participated as a speaker on a food bank panel, where he highlighted the role of food banks in fighting poverty and food waste, saying: “Actors in the food sector constitute a significant portion of our customers. From our operations with the food sector to date, our on-the-ground research and feedback from our customers, we observed that a significant portion of food products are wasted during the transport process. In fruit and vegetables, this waste ratio can rise as high as 50%. Thanks to our sustainable business model and high quality equipment, we have reduced the damage to products occurring during transportation and significantly reduced food waste. TİDER’s Support Market project is very important to us, since it supports our mission of preventing food waste. The Zero Loss strategy has the power to reach people in need through meaningful projects like the Support Market which shares foods that have lost their market value for various reasons but which are still usable. In order to encourage our customers to be part of the Support Market Project, we provide various facilities for our customers in their business processes. We don’t charge equipment rental fees to our customers who support the project.”
