Product reformulation is a route around HFSS. But confectionary products are challenging to perfect. So, retailers must consider other methods on the shop floor to adapt to the regulations. Could a renewed focus on convenience stores, rationalisation of ranges, and maximising the opportunities of display innovation be possible answers?

Clever packaging and design

Sean Field, Store Solutions Category Manager, CHEP UK & Ireland says:

The manufacturers will look at how they can be clever with their packaging and design. We may start seeing some of the displays that are used off-fixture coming in-fixture. This is because they are good at bringing in a brand block and consumer communication. I expect to see a lot more use of digital displays in-fixture. These allow flexibility and for the sale of multiple brands.
