In an industry where supply chain efficiency is paramount, Peppers Unlimited’s customers sought a delivery package that would protect their orders while in use and take up less space while not in use.
Peppers Unlimited is the dipping sauce market’s fastest-growing producer, supplying over 1,000 customers across more than 100 countries. The brand can produce and ship a specially-requested mixture in three weeks, and delivering that much sauce within quick turnaround times requires optimal efficiency throughout the supply chain. In its search for a better package to replace one-way containers that require costly and wasteful disposal, Peppers Unlimited adopted the CHEP Pallecon 315 collapsible liquid container. The result has been a more efficient, sustainable shipping process that reduces the number of one-way packages Peppers Unlimited must purchase.
Shipping more than 12 million gallons of sauce a year means purchasing and moving lots of one-way corrugated boxes – and that process just wasn’t cutting it for some of Peppers Unlimited’s customers. Three of its large clients wanted to shift away from corrugate, which is difficult to stack, less durable, and less secure than other materials. Corrugate also shifts the burden of disposal onto the customer. In an industry where supply chain efficiency is paramount, Peppers Unlimited’s customers sought a delivery package that would protect their orders while in use and take up less space while not in use.
CHEP worked with Peppers Unlimited to find the right container to meet their unique needs – a container that:
- Could be reused, to reduce waste in the supply chain
- Reduced the amount of boxes it needed to purchase
- Wouldn’t cause disposal headaches for its end users
CHEP introduced Peppers Unlimited to the Pallecon 315 collapsible liquid container. Capable of holding more than 3,300 pounds, the reusable container allows Peppers Unlimited to reduce the number of packages it ships to its customers and optimize truck loads. The Pallecon’s smooth interior and exterior walls significantly reduce the chance of product loss and cross-contamination.
Because the container can be easily collapsed and stacked, it takes up less room in customer’s facilities. Once empty containers are ready for pickup, the customer simply places a call and CHEP handles the return of those containers to the nearest CHEP facility where they undergo a stringent cleaning and sanitization process before being re-distributed into CHEP’s container pool.
Finally, because each Pallecon container is barcoded, it’s simple for Peppers Unlimited to track inventory and ensure food safety with an accurate chain of custody.
